Summer Showmakers is a hands-on summer program where students get to create, produce, and perform their own live TV show. Over the course of the week, participants work in teams to brainstorm show ideas, write scripts, film pre-recorded segments, and learn how to use professional studio equipment. By Thursday, all the content comes together in the studio for rehearsals, and on Friday, students run a live show, taking on roles like anchor, camera operator, director, and audio technician.
This program gives students a fun, collaborative, and creative introduction to video production and broadcasting, while building confidence, teamwork, and technical skills in a real studio environment.
This program is led by Bradley Groleau who has vast experience in youth summer programming and is the Video Production and Communications Teacher at Newburyport High School.
