What a great opportunity for the youth to experience the workings of a stable with hands on activities and to also experience 2 riding lessons, group activities and horse themed projects.  The school day off program offered at High Tail Acres, LLC is open to all ability levels, therefore giving the opportunity to the intermediate rider to improve upon their skills and the beginner rider to develop the necessary foundation of basic skills.  The counselors at High Tail have all participated in the horsemanship programs at High Tail and are eager to share their own experiences through interaction with the youth.  The instructors are MA licensed, with years of teaching experience.  Equipment Required: Youth are required to wear an SEI certified helmet. Hard soled shoes or boots (not cowboy boots) with at least a 1/2 inch heel is required footwear.  For riding lessons, students should wear jodphurs or long pants to prevent chafing.  Please have your child bring her/his own plastic water bottle, labeled with their name. We do have a limited number of boots and helmets available. If you need to purchase equipment, please call High Tail Acres directly @ 978-465-4142 and we will guide you in the right direction.

Holiday BakingHave fun while you prepare treats to enjoy with your family and friends for the upcoming holiday season. Learn basic kitchen safety and techniques in a cooperative environment. In this four week session we'll be preparing: different cookies, pastry, and quick breads. Each student is requested to bring a container for taking home baked goods.Around the World CookingCome and enjoy making foods that have their origin in different countries around the world. We’ll be making dishes from Asia, Latin America, Europe and Middle East to include Main dish, soup, bread and dessert. All recipes will be vegetarian and nut free. Kitchen safety, sanitation and basic cooking skills are emphasized along with nutritional concepts. Holiday BakingHave fun while you prepare treats to enjoy with your family and friends for the upcoming holiday season. Learn basic kitchen safety and techniques in a cooperative environment. In this four week session we'll be preparing: different cookies, pastry, and quick breads. Each student is requested to bring a container for taking home baked goods.Around the World CookingCome and enjoy making foods that have their origin in different countries around the world. We’ll be making dishes from Asia, Latin America, Europe and Middle East to include Main dish, soup, bread and dessert. All recipes will be vegetarian and nut free. Kitchen safety, sanitation and basic cooking skills are emphasized along with nutritional concepts. Cooperative participation is fostered along with an enjoyable, relaxed approach.Fran Kaplan is a former Home Economics teacher with years of experience and who has taught many youth cooking classes for the Newburyport Recreation Department.

Join Mrs. Harding on the Bresnahan Green Team! Green Team is open to 3rd grade students who have a passion for taking care of the environment! Students will continue to build upon the work of former Green Team members in our efforts to make Bresnahan a truly "green school" ! Through hands-on projects and data collection, we will learn about composting, recycling, and waste reduction. Students will serve as "Sustainability Stewards" and work as leaders to help educate our wider school community.

Kids Acting for Film and TVWhether your child is brand new to performing or already has some stage or film experience, this class meets them right where they are! Designed for young people in grades 6-8 to be safe when they're home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Students learn life-saving skills such as how to rescue someone who is choking, and helpful information like what to do in severe weather.  The lessons are filled with fun activities and role playing exercises. Students even get to use CPR manikins to practice choking and rescue CPR!
